Filmakademie – Second week
We had a lecture by Inga Von Staden. Among other, she is at the head of the Interactive Media program at the Filmakademie.
During three days she presented to us an overall assessment of the cross media through different cases. From games to cinema, this type tend to be more and more present in audiovisual and print fields. Furthermore it is targeted to a vaste and various audience. In order to realize how to manage such ubiquist project, we had to work in teams and made up some projects.
Day 10 and 11
We met Mike Robinson who is currently involved in the Cartoon Forum organisation and is also asked as a consultant about animation production. He explained to us the procedure of the event and which kind of project is it aimed for. It was also a first step toward the development of ideas in Viborg and it’s pitching during the fourth module in Paris. Therefore he gaves us some piece of advice for preparing a convincing presentation. It is important because there are very few slots available in the TV program compare to the amount of projects presented every year.
First Module of ASF : Filmakademie – Ludwigsburg
We all arrived on Sunday by plane or train and has the time to meet each other during a good Mexican diner. It was also the possibility to get to know the limits of our stomach since there was plenty of food
Day 1
We met Tina Ohnmacht, the German coordinator of the Filmakademie. She just had the time to presents the school to us and to show some extracts of the students’ projects. I was very impressed by the fact that the students could ask for fundings. Therefore, they have the possibility to sell the project to professional broadcasters and ask for funding from public institutions. Graduation movie budget can reach between 30 000 to 40 000 € for a 90 min length film. I think it makes a big difference.
The Filmakademie curriculum is divided in two years of imposed exercise, in order to let the students discover the techniques and the tools, and two years of practice on personal projects in real conditions. That means that each student is holding a position as a professional.
The school gathers several study departments : animation, technical directing, directing (fiction/non-fiction), editing, camera, production design (e.g. fiction, series, international, creative, animation/VFX). Nearly every field of a modern production is covered

Then we had a lecture of Moritz Mayerhoffer . He was a former student in animation in The Filmakademie and he took part to the second ASF programme. He is now living in Berlin and works as a professional. He shared his experience of promoting a project with us.
The main themes we discuss together were the difficulty to link art and funding. How to be convincing when you pitch a project in front of professional buyers and what are they looking for. Which kind of reaction could pop up and how to be prepared to it.
Among many other piece of advice, he emphasized to don’t make the mistake of underestimate the budget of a project. In fact, it is not ensuring the investors at all. And also be prepared to face what we called the country effect, a share of the production between several studios.
In the afternoon, we were invited to visit Gmbh Unexpected. A studio mainly aimed at advertisement and phone applications. They are today well known for their work on transformers characters.

Day 2 and Day 3
We had a lecture of Kim BjØrnqvist currently working as a Head of Development and acquisitions in Nordisk Film. He presented us a way of finding new ideas based on post its. We were all dispatched in groups and interesting stories came out. We also had a brief on how to pitch. It was an introduction for what will come next.
Day 4 and Day 5
On day 4 we had a lecture of the superviseur of the children TV serie “Jasper” Kay Delventhal. He shared with us his experience of how to produce a serie between several countries and set up a reliable production pipeline.
On day 5 we had an impro lesson with Dörthe Eickelberg. I think we all enjoyed it very much. (Pictures to come
Finally we had a nice week end discovering Ludwigsburg and Stuttgart.
ASF 2011-2012
Here you would find a blog launched two years ago by a former ASF student called Flavio Perez. I think it would be a good thing to bring it back to life so we could have a place to share our impressions and thoughts about the program.
You can post any kind of format : photos, videos, writings, drawings and even sounds if you like. Feel free to express yourself in english or even in your native tongs.
Thanks!

2 Years ago (day for day) the students of ASF 2 and I started this blog to share what we were living in ASF. So much stuff happened that we usually had no time to update the blog as it should be. Amazing workshop and great souvenirs for everybody.
This week ASF season 4 has started in the Filmakademie ! The new ASF student group asked to join the UNofficial blog and use it. I’m glad to give them the keys and wish them an amazing ASF ! Hey folks, enjoy it as much as possible !
Thanks again to the ASF team ! See you soon !
Cheers !

Budapest : day 9 and 10
En / here are the pictures of the days 9 and 10 in Budapest at the MOME.
Day 9 was about visiting Kitchen Budapest, an amazing little place for artists and technicians that ables them to work together. The Afternoon we have met Adam Slomai Fisher, co funder of the Kitchen Budapest, Architect, who was there to present an amazing flash application for keynotes : Prezi. After that we were invited to the opening of the Budapest animation Festival (with a screening of Mary and Max).
Next day allowed us to met the Studio Platige Image (from Poland), presenting they last short movie : the kinematrographer, and the afternoon was dedicated to Tchek animation. After that we have been on our unofficial farewell diner at Fruszi’s place.

Viborg Week 1
I am loving this first week in Vigorg.
This is our 3rd module and The Animation Workshop seems to be the perfect place to study.
We all learned so much with our main teacher, Mike Robinson and the best of all we are having great fun with it.
Animation Workshop is cool in every aspect. Besides normal classes that are part of the coures here, there are open lectures like life drawing and theatre improvisation, as well some yoga and tai chi that unfortunatly for us were not happening this week. We have a kitchen where everyone joins to cook and chat and a disco bar to dance like crazy (if we are up to it).
Personaly I am thinking coming here next year to get in the Professional training in 3D character animation, as they have a great curriculum.
One of the best weeks in ASF is until Vigorg module.
I´m looking forward to see wht is coming up next week.

Budapest : day 7 and 8
En / On the foggy sunday we have been in Peter’s home, eating and playing music the entire day. It was very cool, thanks to him and his flatemate ! Monday, back to buisiness, with the morning a lecture of Tamás Waliczky who speaks about the technical and theoretical background of the works. And the afternoon we have met Alexei Alexeev speaking about the creative process in his crazy animated serie KJFG N° 5.
PS : I’m experimenting a new way to put the pictures to avoid you to visit Flickr. What did you prefere? The old way? or the new one with that little flash player? Answer in the comments, thanks ![]()

Budapest : day 5 and 6
En / The last lecture day of the first week was about VFX in movies. Then we have moved to down town for a nice evening. Saturday it was completely open, so I have visited the Statue Park, a little museum with old communist statues. After that, a big walk near the River allow me to see some of the Hungarian architecture. Here are some pictures, as usual including some with that strange fog.
